Reading, packing, making lists

Or rather, adding to lists already made!

Have just read The Caliph’s House by Tahir Shah: a mixture of joy, fascination and frustration - and no doubt the journey of the renovation of the house in Casablanca was for him too (and for his surely long-suffering wife too, although we don’t hear much from her). His story has certainly given me an insight into life in Morocco: how people think and work, the influence of the “jinns” (spirits in the Arabian world), and certainly a real appreciation of what it is to be a foreigner in this country.

I DID like the line in the book that said: “A life not filled with severe learning curves was no life at all”.

12 sleeps to go. Have started to pack ...

Sunday night 8 April 2018:

- Packed (mostly).
- Problems with blog semi-solved (I think): apps not working, Plan B in place (??).
- Working my way each night through Lords of the Atlas by Gavin Maxwell.
- Went to see a film at Jenny and Wolfie’s before dinner; made by a refugee from Afghanistan, Mousafa. Very thought-provoking.

Am tired. Drive to Melbourne tomorrow to see Alison and then to the airport.

Monday 9 April:

Start well - MF in action already: put one of the shoes I was meant to travel in through the wash ...
